SPH professor Dr. Brant Fries is recipient of an honorary degree from the University of Waterloo. The Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, recognizes Fries for his internationally renowned research on assessment and funding systems for long term care.
Dr. Fries is a professor of health management and policy and chief of health systems research at the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is the founding president of interRAI, a 35-country network of researchers focused on the development and application of clinical assessment systems for vulnerable persons of all ages.
The honorary degree, honoris causa, is the highest honor conferred by the University of Waterloo to recognize outstanding achievement, whether academic or through service to society. Fries received the award at a formal ceremony October 22.
