Air Pollution Contributes to a 10 Per Cent Rise in Cancer Diagnoses, UIC Study Finds

Research by Dr. Jyotsna Jagai, research assistant professor of environmental and occupational health sciences in the UIC School of Public Health, is the first study to address the impact of cumulative exposure to environmental hazards on cancer incidence in the U.S. Dr. Jagai reports in the journal Cancer today on the cumulative risk posed by five environmental domains – air, water, land, built and socioeconomic – on cancer incidence rates in the United States.
