ASPPH Announces 2020 Award Recipients

The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health announces the 2020 recipients of its prestigious awards, which recognize public health leaders for their service and achievements in teaching, research, practice, and student services. The awards will be presented March 19 during ASPPH’s Annual Meeting in Arlington, VA.

We received many fantastic nominations this year. Thank you to all the individual nominators and review committee members, and congratulations to this year’s winners.

Dr. Karin B. Yeatts, University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health, will receive the ASPPH Teaching Excellence Award for her excellence in teaching, research, and mentorship.
Dr. Karen D. Liller, University of South Florida College of Public Health, will receive the ASPPH Academic Public Health Practice Excellence Award in recognition of her efforts to advance and integrate the scholarship of practice-based service, teaching and research for public health.
Dr. Rachel R. Hardeman, University of Minnesota School of Public Health, is being recognized as an outstanding early-career investigator and will receive the ASPPH Early Career Public Health Research Award.
Dr. Leah Christina Neubauer, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Program in Public Health, is being recognized for her early- career excellence in teaching, research, and mentorship and will receive the ASPPH Early Career Public Health Teaching Award.
Mr. Scot McIntosh, West Virginia University School of Public Health, will receive the ASPPH Student Services Excellence Award for his innovation and forward-thinking in student services and extraordinary dedication in working with applicants and students.
Dr. Karin Opacich, University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health, will receive the Riegelman Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Public Health Education for her excellence in undergraduate teaching. Named for Dr. Richard and Mrs. Linda Riegelman, the award is given to recognize superb faculty members who have garnered respect and enthusiasm from undergraduate students for demonstrating exceptional teaching.
