ASPPH Annual Meeting Late-breaking Session Features Leader of the National School of Public Health in Havana, Cuba

ASPPH is pleased to announce the addition of a late-breaking session, Building Bridges with Cuba, to its program at the 2015 ASPPH Annual Meeting. The session will take place Monday, March 23 from 4:45-5:45 p.m.

In response to President Obama announcing the restoration of full diplomatic relations with Cuba, we invited Dr. Pastor Castell-Florit Serrat, the leader of the National School of Public Health in Cuba, to speak at our Annual Meeting. He will present information on the Cuban national health system and its relationship to intersector action, discuss the roles of the medical and public health workforce, and provide an overview of the National School of Public Health.

Dean Mauricio Hernandez (INSP Mexico) will moderate the session and share examples of international cooperation between Mexico and Cuba. Dean Pierre Buekens (Tulane) and Dr. Paul Erwin (Tennessee) will share perspectives from U.S. schools and programs of public health. There will be opportunities for all members to engage in discussion.
