April 15-17, ASPPH exhibited at the USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington DC, the largest event of its type. The weekend drew 365,000+ visitors, of which, well over 4,000 interacted with the ASPPH booth. Intended for K-12 students and their families, and booths are highly interactive. Attendees who visited the ASPPH booth got to “exercise for a prize” – by spinning a wheel and performing the exercise indicated with ASPPH staff. Attendees could then choose a prize – seed packets, hand sanitizer, chapstick, or sunglasses. They also received an information sheet about how to be healthy at home. It was a great opportunity to introduce public health to young children.
