ASPPH hosted the first Virtual Fair of the year for SOPHAS participating schools and programs of public health on January 21. SOPHAS schools and programs spoke with 923 prospective students from 48 states and 59 countries. The top five participating countries were the United States (697) India (31), Nigeria (25), China (24), and Canada (22). The January Virtual Fair is a unique one-day event where many attendees have already submitted their applications and therefore ask more specific questions about schools and programs.
The Virtual Fair is a widely accessible forum in which prospective students from around the world can learn more about the application process and participating schools and programs. Admissions officers and program chairs have the opportunity to chat live with prospective students, rate prospects in real time, download applicant reports and chat transcripts, and collect resumes.
Three more Virtual Fairs will be held in 2015, including the summer Virtual Fair on July 8 and 9. In 2014 the four Virtual Fairs allowed over 4,800 prospective students to chat with 52 SOPHAS schools and programs, World Education Service, SOPHAS administrators, and current MPH students.
