The first meeting of the ASPPH Undergraduate Network for Public Health and Global Health Education, held on Monday, November 2 in Chicago, IL, was a major success. Over 85 individuals, representing 70 undergraduate institutions, actively participated in discussions that highlighted the opportunities and challenges facing undergraduate programs. Attendees welcomed the opportunity to identify programs and services that would help them meet their challenges. ASPPH is very pleased that two of our allied organizations, CUGH and CEPH, also attended the meeting, and we look forward to working collectively to support and advance undergraduate education in public health and global health.
In addition to those in attendance, we have also received indications of strong interest in the Network from others not able to attend. Thank you to Donna Petersen (South Florida) for her leadership in this initiative and for chairing the meeting. Gary Raskob (Oklahoma), ASPPH Board chair also welcomed attendees and participated in the meeting.
Thank you to all members who have joined the Network and are helping to promote the ASPPH Undergraduate Network for Public Health and Global Health Education. We look forward to announcing future developments.
