ASPPH Presents Webinar: Opioid Litigation and the Opportunity to Advance Public Health Approaches Through a Possible Master Settlement Agreement

On Tuesday, June 5, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Eastern, the ASPPH Presents webinar series will continue with “Opioid Litigation and the Opportunity to Advance Public Health Approaches Through a Possible Master Settlement Agreement“, which will focus on the status of the hundreds of lawsuits that have been filed against opioid manufacturers and distributors, and the opportunity a settlement agreement might offer to advance public health approaches to address the opioid problem. Former Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell will discuss the scope of the litigation, its aims, and how a multi-party settlement might be reached. Dean Cheryl Healton (NYU), who is the former President and CEO of the American Legacy Foundation (now the Truth Initiative), will lead a discussion on how the public health community can suggest specific interventions that might be proposed for inclusion in any settlement. Dr. Joshua M. Sharfstein (Johns Hopkins), Vice Dean for Public Health Practice and Community Engagement, will also participate in the webinar to share his perspectives as a former federal, state and local health official.
