ASPPH-Sponsored Academic Public Health Caucus to Celebrate 20th Anniversary at 2014 APHA Annual Meeting

The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health is pleased to celebrate its twentieth anniversary of its sponsorship of the Academic Public Health Caucus at this year’s American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting in New Orleans. The 2014 Academic Public Health Caucus will feature seven oral and two poster sessions from Monday, November 17- Wednesday, November 19.

The ASPPH-sponsored Academic Public Health Caucus is a platform for APHA members to discuss issues related to academic public health. Specifically, the Caucus provides a forum to showcase and learn about innovations and excellence in education, training, and research not only from public health academicians, but also from practitioners within public health institutions (e.g., federal, state, regional, local, private sector or non-profit organizations) that administer or participate in academic/practice partnerships.

Topics for this year’s Academic Public Health Caucus presentations include:

For session presenters, times, and location, as well as to find additional APHA sessions, please view APHA’s online program at https://apha.confex.com/apha/142am/webprogram/start.html. Current Certified in Public Health (CPH) participants can receive two continuing education credits for each Academic Public Health Caucus session attended.

In addition, a business meeting for the Academic Public Health Caucus will be held on Monday, November 17 from 6:30 – 8:00 a.m. in the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel (2 Poydras St., New Orleans, LA) in Grand Salon 12. During the meeting, participants will review highlights of the 2014 Caucus and begin planning for the 2015 Academic Public Health Caucus Call for Abstracts. The meeting is open to all, and participation by those who are interested in strengthening the partnership between academia and practice is especially encouraged.
