Berkeley Assistant Professor Named a 2014 Searle Scholar

Dr. Sarah Stanley, assistant professor in infectious diseases and vaccinology at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, was recently selected as a 2014 Searle Scholar. The Searle Scholars Program supports the independent research of exceptional young faculty in the biomedical sciences and chemistry. Dr. Stanley will receive $300,000 during the next three years, to fund her research investigating immune mechanisms that are important for controlling infection with M. tuberculosis. An estimated two billion people are infected with M. tuberculosis, a pathogenic bacterium that contributes to significant morbidity and mortality worldwide.
