Dr. Kerri Clough-Gorr, a 2006 graduate of Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH), has been named the new director of National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI) and University College Cork’s (UCC) inaugural professor of cancer epidemiology.
Dr. Clough-Gorr is currently an assistant professor at the University of Bern, Switzerland, as well as an adjunct assistant professor of geriatrics at the Boston University School of Medicine and a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center (MAVERIC).
Dr. Clough-Gorr was previously the scientific director of the National Institute for Cancer Epidemiology and Registration in Switzerland. She has published extensively in both geriatrics and cancer, and has a particular interest in cancer in older people and in the assessment of quality of life.
“I am honored and excited to be joining both NCRI and UCC,” Dr. Clough-Gorr says. “The registry has an important role to play in cancer control in Ireland and a strong tradition of first-rate cancer registration.”
