Celebrating National Public Health Week

ASPPH joined the American Public Health Association (APHA) to observe National Public Health Week (NPHW). On April 4, ASPPH staff volunteered at Food & Friends, a DC-based organization committed to improving the lives and health of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses by providing home-delivered medically tailored meals and medical nutrition therapy. This Day of Service, hosted by Delta Omega, celebrated the resilience and collaboration of our DC community.

Additionally, we participated in APHA’s NPHW 2022 Twitter Chat, joining other public health professionals, organizations, and community members to discuss topics in improving public health and health equity in our communities. As part of the week’s activities, ASPPH’s This Is Public Health (TIPH) hosted a series of webinars for students to explore public health. The week highlighted public health challenges that are critical to our future success in improving the public’s health and prioritizing health equity. ASPPH will continue to build upon the themes explored during NPHW in our work throughout the year.
