Colorado Professor Receives American Diabetes Association’s 2017 Kelly West Award for Outstanding Achievement in Epidemiology

Colorado School of Public Health Endowed Professor Dr. Dana Dabelea, is the 2017 recipient of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Kelly West Award for Outstanding Achievement in Epidemiology. The Kelly West Award is one of ADA’s highest scientific awards given annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of diabetes epidemiology.

Dr. Dabelea is the school’s Conrad Riley Endowed Professor and director of the Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity and Diabetes (LEAD) Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Her research is cited in more than 200 publications. Dr. Dabelea is a principal investigator on nine current federally-funded grants and she co-chairs the national SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth study. Beyond her scientific findings, she is committed to expanding the pipeline of well-trained scientists in diabetes epidemiology through mentorship.
