Columbia and Washington Dean’s Honored for 2013 AJPH Paper of the Year

A paper co-authored by Dean Linda P. Fried, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and Dean Howard Frumkin, of the University of Washington School of Public Health, has been recognized for excellence as a 2013 Paper of the Year by the American Journal of Public Health (AJPH). “Aging, Climate Change, and Legacy Thinking,” which was published in AJPH in 2012, connects two of the major public health issues of our era – the aging of the population and the health effects of climate change – in a hopeful way, emphasizing the desire of older adults to leave an intact world for their children and grandchildren. They therefore may be a resource for addressing climate change. The third co-author is Dr. Harry (Rick) Moody of AARP.
