Number 4 on the Esquire Magazine list of “The Best Books Coming Out This Winter to Solve Your New Year’s Resolution to Read More,” is “Sexual Citizens: A Landmark Study of Sex, Power, and Assault on Campus ,” co-authored by Dr. Jennifer Hirsch, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health professor of sociomedical sciences.
In the book published by W. W. Norton & Company, Dr. Hirsch and co-author Dr. Samus Khan, Columbia Sociology department chair, detail new approaches to making sexual assaults a less common feature of college life. The book draws on ethnographic research from the Sexual Health Initiative to Foster Transformation (SHIFT), Columbia’s landmark study of sexual assault on its campuses.
On January 21, the Mailman School co-hosted a panel discussion with the authors. A cross-country book tour will take place in the following cities:
