Dr. Jamie Daw, assistant professor of health policy and management, was selected as the recipient of the 2019 AcademyHealth Outstanding Dissertation Award. Her dissertation, “Insurance Coverage for Pregnant Women: Assessing Patterns, Policy Impacts, and Methods for Evaluation”, was chosen as “an outstanding scientific contribution from a doctoral thesis in health services or health policy.”
As the 2019 Outstanding Dissertation recipient, Dr. Daw will be honored at a special Presidential Session at the 2019 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting on June 2-4 in Washington, DC. At the session, Dr. Daw will be invited to share how she got to this point in her career and to what she attributes her success.
Dr. Daw’s research focuses on how policies affect the barriers faced by populations in accessing needed health services, from gaining health insurance to connecting with providers and ultimately, receiving high-quality care. Her recent work focuses on the impact of state and federal policies on access to care for women and families in the period surrounding childbirth. Her work has been published in leading medical, health services, and policy research journals including JAMA, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Health Affairs, and the Journal of Health Policy, Politics and Law.Tags: Friday Letter Submission
