Columbia: Professors Named Best Doctors by New York Magazine

Dr. Marina Catallozzi, Dr. David Bell, and Dr. Dawn Hershman, faculty members at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, were named Best Doctors 2019 by NY Magazine. Administered by Castle Connolly, results are based on a peer-review survey of physicians who they consider the best in their field. Drs. Catallozzi and Bell are adolescent medicine specialists. Dr. Hershman is a breast cancer specialist.

Dr. Catallozzi, assistant professor of Population and Family Health, was cited for her work in sexually transmitted diseases, adolescent gynecology and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in adolescents. Dr. Bell, associate professor of population and family health, specializes in male health, sexually transmitted infections, safe sex, and reproductive health. Dr. Hershman was cited for her work in medical oncology, breast cancer treatment and prevention, cancer survivorship, and late effects of cancer therapy.

Dr. Catallozzi, who is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at the College of Physicians & Surgeons, is board certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She is co-leader of the Sexuality, Sexual and Reproductive Health Certificate and director of the General Public Health Program, the largest accelerated MPH program at Columbia Mailman.

Since 1999, Dr. Bell has been the medical director of the Young Men’s Clinic, where he delivers primary care to adolescent males and is a strong advocate for their rights to access high quality services, including sexual and reproductive health.

Dr. Hershman is also a professor of medicine in hematology/oncology at Columbia Physicians & Surgeons and an investigator with SWOG, the cancer clinical trials group supported by the National Cancer Institute.
