Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health – National Preparedness Month

The Columbia Regional Learning Center (CRLC), the training education program of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP), focuses on the disaster readiness of government and non-government systems, the complexities of population recovery, the power of community engagement and integration into preparedness systems, and the risks of human vulnerability, with a particular focus on children. Dr. Irwin Redlener, professor of health policy and management at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, heads NCDP at Columbia’s Earth Institute. The Center has designed two innovative approaches to strengthen community preparedness, response and recovery capabilities for agencies, workforce, and individuals.
