Dr. Elahe Nezami Receives the Riegelman Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Public Health Education

The Riegelman Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Public Health Education is given to one full-time, undergraduate public health faculty member at a university with a CEPH-accredited school or program of public health, who has made outstanding contributions in the following areas: exemplary efforts to start or sustain a new program; innovative teaching techniques using advanced technology; relationships with practice partners in the community; collaboration with other disciplines; and relationships with graduate programs in public health.

Dr. Elahe Nezami has led the effort to educate undergraduate students about public health at the University of Southern California (USC) for nearly 25 years. During her tenure she has developed, launched, and grown two bachelor’s programs and eight minor programs related to public health. These programs have prepared hundreds of students to contribute to the health of society and to pursue further education to become public health professionals, healthcare clinicians, and informed citizens.

Dr. Nezami will be recognized at the luncheon during the Undergraduate Public Health and Global Health Education Summit on Wednesday, March 20.
