The Office of the Provost at Drexel University announced that Dr. Shannon Márquez has been appointed associate vice provost for global health and development effective November 1. Dr. Márquez will continue to serve as an associate professor in environmental and occupational health and director of global health initiatives. However, she will transition out of her role as associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Public Health at Drexel University.
Dr. Yvonne Michael, Associate Professor of Epidemiology, will assume the role of associate dean for academic and faculty affairs as of December 1. She is also a committed teacher and mentor.
Dr. Márquez will continue to lead Drexel’s online Certificate in Global Health program, a financial aid-eligible program with a curriculum comprised of online coursework, an integration module as well as a field practicum that includes a 2-3 week supervised experiential (and cultural immersion) global health field experience and study tour that takes place in collaboration with local, international or community-based global health organizations in locations across the globe.
