Drexel: Ending Discrimination in Healthcare

March 1, was UNAIDS Zero Discrimination Day. In honor of this day, Dr. Joe Amon, director of the Office of Global Health and clinical professor in the department of Community Health and Prevention at Dornsife, authored a piece in the Journal of the International AIDS Society about ending discrimination against people living with human immunodeficiency (HIV) in healthcare.

In this piece, Dr. Amon outlines the many challenges and obstacles that people living with HIV experience and shares action items for healthcare workers and government leaders.

Amon serves as co‐chair of the UNAIDS Human Rights Reference Group on HIV and Human Rights and is a member of the Working Group on Monitoring and Evaluating Programmes to Remove Human Rights Barriers to HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria Services of the Global Fund.
