Drexel Faculty Publishes Article on Hunger and Depression

Dr. Mariana Chilton, director of the Center for Hunger-Free Communities and associate professor in the department of health management and policy at the Drexel University School of Public Health, is the author of an article entitled “Child hunger is a prescription for depression in late adolescence and early adulthood” published in February online in Evidence-Based Medicine. The study discussed in this article used data from a single yes/no question collected from 1995-2009 to assess how reports of hunger were associated with depression. These findings contribute to the knowledge about the long-term effects of food insecurity.
