Drexel Professor Coauthors Article on Effect of Oral Topical Anesthesia on the Voice

Dr. Edward Gracely, associate professor in the department of epidemiology and biostatistics at Drexel University School of Public Health, coauthored an article published in the Journal of Voice, titled “The Effect of Oral Topical Anesthesia on the Characteristics of Voice.” The article discusses a prospective cohort study that aims to determine the effects of topical anesthesia, which is used routinely before rigid laryngeal endoscopy, on changes in voice quality. The authors did not find clinically significant voice change after oral topical anesthesia in this study of 102 patients.
