2020 ASPPH Virtual Leadership Retreat

The 2020 ASPPH Virtual Leadership Retreat (VLR) will be held on Thursday afternoons from July 9 through July 30 (four weeks). Additionally, all member deans and and primary program representatives are invited to join the opening session of the 2020 ASPPH Sections Retreat, Public Health Crisis: Structural and Systemic Racism, on Wednesday, June 17, 1:30-3:00 PM ET. Dean Sandro Galea (BU) will moderate a panel discussion to explore actions that the academic public health community has taken, what we need to do to strengthen those steps, and what else needs to be done.

The Planning Committee, chaired by Dean Hilary Godwin (Washington), is working to finalize the programming for July – please mark you calendars for the dates and times below.

The Leadership Retreat is open only to deans and primary program representatives from ASPPH-member institutions.

    Public Health Crisis: Structural and Systemic Racism

    This session started a conversation about institutional and systematic racism. Panelists addressed current initiatives that the academic public health community have taken to address structural and systemic racism, and explored ideas to inform an approach and path forward.

    This session was the opening plenary for the 2020 ASPPH Virtual Sections Retreat. All ASPPH -member deans and primary program representatives are invited to join us for this important discussion.

    The opening session at the Virtual Leadership Retreat also serves as the closing session for the Virtual Sections Retreat. ASPPH-member deans, primary program representatives and Section members will come together once again for a presentation by Wes Moore.

    Mr. Moore is the CEO of Robin Hood, one of the largest anti-poverty forces in the nation. He is also a bestselling author, a combat veteran, and a social entrepreneur.
