The 5th Seattle Symposium in Biostatistics: Biomarkers for Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Therapy Guidance, organized by the Department of Biostatistics in the University of Washington School of Public Health, will take place November 21-24 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Seattle.
The four-day event – which takes place every five years – is considered one of the nation’s premier events in biostatistics. It includes two days of short courses taught by top faculty in the Department of Biostatistics, including current Chair Dr. Patrick Heagerty and former Chairs Drs. Bruce Weir and Thomas Fleming. The final two days address the clinical practice of using biomarkers and the ethics of research.
“Biomarkers present a great use in diagnosis and therapy guidance,” said Dr. Fleming, professor of biostatistics. “They allow us to match interventions with the people who will most benefit.”
Early bird registration deadline is Oct. 1. The event is sponsored by Axio Research, Fred Hutch research center, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Genentech, CTI BioPharma, Novartis, Gilead, and the Department of Biostatistics.
