Weld County, Colorado has experienced high rates and high activity regarding human tracking, specifically sex trafficking. Due to this devastating public health issue, the Department of Community Health Education a collaborative member of the will be hosting a Human Sex Trafficking Awareness and Educational Event on November 7, from 7 to 9 pm at the University of Northern Colorado, University Center Ballroom.
This event will feature discussions by Megan Lundstrom, a Sex Trafficking survivor, and the founder and director of Free Our Girls as well as members of the Greeley Police Department involved in human trafficking investigations.
Free Our Girls is a local non-profit that works with assisting survivors, and victims of sex trafficking. They provide trauma informed counseling, as well as training to increase societal resilience.
A donation drive will also be conducted for Free Our Girls, to help the organization provides care packages to human trafficking survivors, especially books about business management skills, earning income, and gaining work experience. Donations will be collected throughout the month of November and the first week of December at The Colorado School of Public Health administrative offices at Anschutz Medical Campus.
