The Mailman School of Public Health October Grand Rounds features Mr. Bruce J. Katz, vice president at the Brookings Institution and founding director of the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program. Mr. Katz, whose talk is titled “The Metropolitan Revolution”, is co-author of the book by the same name, and regularly advises federal, state, regional and municipal leaders on policy reforms that advance the competitiveness of metropolitan areas. This includes counseling on shifting demographic and market trends, and policies critical to innovation, human capital, infrastructure, housing, and new forms of metropolitan governance.
After the 2008 presidential election, Mr. Katz co-led the housing and urban issues transition team for the Obama administration and served as a senior advisor to the new Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for the first 100 days of the administration. In 2006, Mr. Katz received the Heinz Award in Public Policy for his contributions to the understanding of the “function and values of cities and metropolitan areas and profoundly influencing their economic vitality, livability and sustainability.”
This year’s Mailman School Grand Rounds on the Future of Public Health series is titled “Next Gen Population Health”.
