The Empire State Opioid Epidemic Innovation Challenge attracts students, scientists and practitioners from the tri-State area to engage in an open-innovation platform to create solutions with the potential to change the trajectory of the local and national opioid crisis. Columbia Mailman School of Public Health is co-hosting a three-day event from September 28 – September 30 in collaboration with the New York State Governor’s Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, Office of the Borough of Staten Island, Columbia University’s Fu School of Engineering, CAMTech, and Northwell Health.
The first day – the Challenge Summit – will feature seminar discussions with experts, policy makers and practitioners who can frame the issue from different perspectives. The following two days will focus on groups of attendees working on different ideas that will be presented before a judging panel on the last day. Several Mailman School faculty will serve as mentors.
