CUNY: Urban Food Policy Forum – Food Equity Research in New York | Thursday, February 22

This forum will showcase research on food equity in New York and delve into the different disparities manifesting in the city region food system and how researchers from different disciplines can work to address and eliminate them. Invited scholars from The City University of New York (CUNY), and other universities in the Northeast, will share their most recent research on New York and provide fresh perspectives on why and how CUNY faculty, and allied colleagues and professionals across the city, state, and the US, can engage in and elevate food equity work within their discipline. Discussion topics will include the food justice movement in New York, racial disparities in the urban food system, the role and limitations of government-sponsored nutrition assistance programs in addressing hunger, and labor in the city’s food economy. On February 27, join the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute to explore these and other key dimensions of food equity research in New York.
