The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions and the UF College of Medicine will host Dr. Stefano Allesina speaking on “What’s in a Name? Lists of Names Reveal Differences in Academic Systems” on Thursday, May 2 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern. The talk is available to view via livestream.
Dr. Allesina is a professor in the department of ecology and evolution and the Computation Institute at the University of Chicago. He is a theoretical ecologist whose main focus is to develop sound ecological theory for multispecies communities. His laboratory develops new mathematical, statistical and computational methods for the analysis of ecological data. Common themes are the dynamics of large ecological systems; building food webs from scratch; response to extinctions; and the science of science.
