Florida’s HealthStreet Hosts National Conversation on Food Insecurity

HealthStreet, a community engagement program at the University of Florida, is hosting a free national Our Community, Our Health town hall event on November 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. ET to discuss food insecurity. Our Community, Our Health is a series of conversations between researchers and community members from across the country.

The event can be viewed November 14 via livestream.

HealthStreet is supported by the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions, the UF College of Medicine and the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

This interactive town hall is designed to:

  • Increase public awareness of food deserts and food insecurity
  • Share research being done and discuss models that have been tested
  • Provide time for all of your questions about food insecurity

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Catherine Campbell, postdoctoral associate, family nutrition program and program for research efficient communities
  • Ms. Sylvia James, resident services coordinator, Gainesville Housing Authority
  • Mr. David Dinkins, extension agent IV, UF IFAS
  • Dr. Bruce Waite, executive director, Common Thread, “The Food Oasis Project”
