Florida’s HealthStreet Hosts National Conversation on Youth Tobacco Use, Prevention

HealthStreet, a community engagement program at the University of Florida, is hosting a free national Our Community, Our Health town hall event on February 28 from 6 to 7 p.m. ET to discuss youth tobacco use and prevention policy. Our Community, Our Health is a series of conversations between researchers and community members from across the country.

The event can be viewed February 28 via livestream.

HealthStreet is supported by the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions, the UF College of Medicine and the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

This interactive town hall is designed to:

  • Increase public awareness of youth tobacco use trends
  • Share research being done by various institutions
  • Provide time for questions about youth tobacco use trends, prevention policy and the impact of the Tobacco 21 initiative

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Ramzi Salloum, assistant professor, UF department of health outcomes and policy and the Institute for Child Health Policy
  • Ms. Victoria Hunter Gibney, chair, Tobacco Free Alachua
  • Mr. Andrew Romero, manager, health policy program, Florida Department of Health
