This summer, the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act was signed into law, overhauling the outdated Toxic Substances Control Act. Now, the EPA is faced with implementing this law which represents real chemical safety reform.
On September 22, 2016, Milken Institute School of Public Health (Milken Institute SPH) at the George Washington University (GW) invites guests to join in a discussion with the individuals who worked for years to get this bill passed, and understand what it will take to make sure key health protection objectives are met.
Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) will provide a keynote with an overview of how the law came to be after a welcome and introduction from Dr. Lynn Goldman, Michael and Lori Milken of Milken Institute SPH. Other perspectives from the EPA and the Environmental Defense Fund will also be heard in what will be a lively discussion surrounding this historic bill passage.
