Johns Hopkins: Alumni, Founders of India-Based NGO SEARCH, to Discuss Pilot for Reducing Tobacco and Alcohol Consumption in India – Tuesday, November 19

Drs. Abhay Bang and Rani Bang, a husband and wife medical team who each earned an MPH from Johns Hopkins in 1984, will speak at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health on Tuesday, November 19. They will discuss findings of a pilot aimed at reducing tobacco and alcohol consumption in the Gadchiroli district, in central India. Through their Non-governmental Organization (NGO) Society for Education, Action and Research in Community Health, the Bangs have established a hospital and a community-based health care program in more than 100 villages throughout the Gadchiroli district. The Bangs have received many honors for their work, including the 2015 Times of India Social Impact Award.
