Roundtable on Population Health Improvement Workshop

Roundtable on Population Health Improvement Workshop

On June 4, 2015, the Roundtable on Population Health Improvement will hold a workshop exploring the role and potential of the private sector in improving economic well-being and community outcomes. This workshop will build on two previous roundtable events, a 2014 workshop on Business Engagement and Building Healthy Communities and a 2013 workshop on Applying a Health Lens to Decision Making in Non-Health Sectors. Applying a health lens refers to giving consideration for potential health effects in decisions made in many relevant domains, such as education and housing. Topics to be discussed at the workshop include the corporate role in sustainability, multi-sector efforts to develop human capital, and other multi-sector initiatives to revitalize communities through investments in education and jobs.

Workshop objectives include:

(1)  Explore what businesses can offer the movement to improve population health

(2)  Discuss areas of potential, as well as models for how businesses could impact the determinants of health

(3)  Provide a platform for discussing how to promote and support health in all business practices, policies, and investments

The workshop will be held at the Beckman Center of the National Academies in Irvine, California

This workshop will also be webcast live.
