Rutgers School of Public Health is excited to announce PHocus: A Summer Experience for High School Students. PHocus, which stands for Public Health: Outbreaks, Communities, and Urban Studies, is open to students entering the ninth and twelfth grades who want to learn more about the factors that influence health and disease.
Students can expect a variety of experiences including mock outbreaks, hands-on population health and community disease activities, a laboratory session, and conversations with public heath scientists and practitioners.
“We hope that PHocus sparks young scholars’ interests in the field of public health,” says Dr. Perry Halkitis, Dean of the Rutgers School of Public Health. We hope to build a pipeline into our field for students who are dedicated to urban public health or any of the myriad aspects of the ways we serve.”
PHocus will be offered at Rutgers School of Public Health, Piscataway, from June 25–June 29, 2018 and in Newark from July 30–August 3, 2018.
