University at Albany School of Public Health’s Center for Public Health Continuing Education will host a free, live webcast on Bridging Gaps: The Vital Role of Cultural Competence in Healthcare Thursday, December 18, 9:00 am – 10:00 am EDT.  Speakers include Nathan Graber, MD, MPH, Director, Center for Environmental Health, NYS Department of Health and Karen Derusha, Principal Public Health Educator, Clinton County (NY) Health Department, Health Planning and Promotion Division.  The program will present fundamental concepts on cultural and linguistic competence for medical and public health professionals. The webcast will demonstrate why cultural and linguistic competence is important and how it can facilitate dialogue, awareness, and learning to address diverse healthcare needs..
