Texas A&M Faculty to Present NCI-CDC Sponsored Webinar on Colonoscopy Training to Address Rural & Underserved Populations

Dr. Jane Bolin, professor and director of the Southwest Rural Health Research Center at the Texas A&M School of Public Health, will participate on August 30 in a webinar on Rural Cancer: Data, Disparities, and Determination sponsored by the National Cancer Institutes (NCI) Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Bolin will discuss a successful rural-focused colorectal cancer screening program that she helped develop, which trains family medicine residents to conduct colonoscopies and also utilizes community health workers in the outreach, teaching and logistics of reaching out to rural and underserved populations for cancer screening and education.
