UMass: Institute for Global Health Symposium: Achieving Global Equity Through STEM Education: Health, Environment & Policy Thursday, November 21

The UMass Amherst Institute for Global Health, led by professor of environmental health sciences Dr. Timothy Ford, and the UMass Amherst STEM Ambassadors Program will host a symposium titled “Achieving Global Equity through STEM Education: Health, Environment & Policy” on November 21 from 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m. Eastern at the Old Chapel. The daylong program will feature a keynote panel headlined by Dr. Carol O’Donnell, executive director of the Smithsonian Sciences Education Center. Additional panelists include Dr. Jennie Ward-Robinson, CEO of the Alliance for Global Health Innovation; Dr. Gary Toronzos, professor of microbiology at the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras; Dr. Rupika Delgoda, professor of biochemical pharmacology, the University of the West Indies at Mona, Jamaica; Dr. Laurel Royer, managing scientist at Exponent; and Dr. Carolyn Gardner-Thomas, lecturer of math, Harvard University.

In addition to the keynote panel, the symposium will feature student poster presentations and a STEM AP Presentation (STEM Education through the Performing Arts).
