Ms. Christine “Chris” Hurley was selected to receive the University of Washington School of Public Health’s 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award, the School’s highest honor.
Over the last four decades, Ms. Hurley has worked to reduce barriers to health care, safe and stable housing, and improved social services for the elderly, LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer, or questioning, and others) individuals, and people experiencing homelessness in the Puget Sound region of Washington state. She is also a dedicated teacher and mentor for the next generation of public health and health care leaders.
To celebrate her tremendous impact, the UW School of Public Health will host a moderated conversation with Ms. Hurley about her life’s work around community health and social justice, and the role that the School played along the way. We will also hear about her experience establishing the Pike Market Medical Clinic and Bailey-Boushay House.
