Florida: Faculty Member Named One of 11 ‘People to Know’ by American Diabetes Association

Dr. Ashby Walker, an assistant professor in the department of health services research, management and policy at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, is featured in the September issue of the American Diabetes Association’s magazine, Diabetes Forecast, as a “diabetes all-star for 2019.”

Dr. Walker, also the director for health equity initiatives at the UF Diabetes Institute, joins 11 other advocates and educators featured in the issue. She was recognized for her work developing and leading a class on Type 1 diabetes research for UF students who have a personal connection to the disease. The course provides students with an introduction to groundbreaking research underway at the institute, and exposes students to professional pathways in diabetes research that might influence their career trajectories.
