Florida Postdoctoral Fellow Receives Award from Venezuelan National Academy of Medicine

Dr. Gabriela Blohm, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, received the 2017 Jose Gregorio Hernandez Award from the Venezuelan National Academy of Medicine along with her colleague Dr. Alberto Paniz-Mondolfi, chief of the tropical medicine and endemic diseases service of the International Hospital of Barquisimeto, and other Venezuelan collaborators. The research team was recognized for its work on the Zika virus and the disease leishmaniasis.

At UF, Dr. Blohm works in the laboratory of Dr. John Lednicky, a research professor in the department of environmental and global health, where she studies arbroviruses in collaboration with Dr. Lednicky and Dr. J. Glenn Morris, a professor and director of UF’s Emerging Pathogens Institute.
