Dr. Arch Mainous, the chair of the department of health services research, management and policy at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, was selected as a 2016 Lewis Sigmon Visiting Senior Scholar by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Mainous will spend several weeks throughout the year in residence at the American Board of Family Medicine, working on a variety of research topics, including prevention of physician burnout.
Dr. Mainous is the deputy editor of the journal Family Medicine and is on the editorial boards of the Annals of Family Medicine and Quality in Primary Care. He has conducted a variety of studies on conditions commonly presenting in primary care, such as respiratory infections, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and iron disorders.
