Mr. Vaughn Bryant, a doctoral student in the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions department of clinical and health psychology, has received a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
The grant will support Mr. Bryant’s study of whether working memory and associated neural networks can predict reduced alcohol use in people with HIV who drink heavily, and who are undergoing a motivational interviewing treatment for alcohol use. His mentors are Dr. Nicole Ennis Whitehead, an assistant professor of clinical and health psychology, and Dr. Ronald A. Cohen, a professor and director of the Center for Cognitive Aging and Memory at UF’s Institute on Aging.
