A proposal by Georgia State doctoral student Ms. Iris Feinberg has been funded by American Institutes for Research to evaluate the international dataset on the Program for the Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) for information on health literacy. There were over 100 proposals submitted and only a handful funded.
“This is a solid and timely research topic in the growing field of health literacy,” noted AIR in its award letter. “The research plan makes excellent use of the U.S. PIAAC health related questions, and the connection between literacy and health practices is clearly described.”
Ms. Feinberg is in her third year of study in the PhD program at the Georgia State University School of Public Health. She will be invited to present her paper at a research conference sponsored by AIR in early December. Final papers will also be published by AIR.
