Professor Dr. Avi Dor and associate professor Dr. Anne Markus, were appointed to the inaugural advisory board of the Center for Social Science Research at the March of Dimes. Both are professors in the department of health policy and management at George Washington University (GW) Milken Institute School of Public Health.
The Center for Social Science Research aims to better understand the influence of social determinants of health through social science research and to identify potential policy and program solutions that can lead to improved outcomes and increased equity. The Center will conduct six research studies over three years to better understand the relationship among economic and employer policies, women’s health and productivity, and childbirth.
Dr. Markus is a public policy expert who focuses on how the health system addresses the needs of women, minorities and children, including those of low-income and with special needs. Dr. Dor is an expert in health economics who has consulted for various prestigious organizations, including the World Bank.
