Harvard Faculty Honored for Leadership in Environmental Health

Dr. Philippe Grandjean, adjunct professor of environmental health at Harvard T.H. Chan of Public Health and professor of environmental medicine at the University of Southern Denmark, is the recipient of the 2015 Ramazzini Award from the Collegium Ramazzini for his contributions to the field of environmental health.

The Collegium is a select group of scientists in the environmental and occupational health field, with up to 180 members who have been elected fellows based on their achievements. The award will be presented October 24 by the mayor of Carpi, Italy, the city where Bernardino Ramazzini was born. The award consists of a small bust of Ramazzini, who wrote the first textbook on occupational medicine in 1700.

Dr. Grandjean, author of Only One Chance, was selected for his long career conducting and promoting environmental health research, especially his groundbreaking work on the effects of methylmercury and other environmental toxins affecting children and for his tireless advocacy of the need to protect future generations from the devastating effects of neuro- and developmental toxins.
