Harvard Professor Honored for Cancer Research

Dr. Meir Stampfer, professor of epidemiology and nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Associate Director, Channing Division of Network Medicine Department of Medicine, Brigham And Women’s Hospital, received the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)’s 26th AACR-American Cancer Society Award for Research Excellence in Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention at the organization’s annual meeting April 1-5 in Washington, DC.

Dr. Stampfer was honored for outstanding contributions to the field of epidemiology, including the identification of a link between dietary factors and biomarkers to the risks of cancer. He delivered his award lecture, “Decline in Prostate Cancer Rates – Bad News?,” April 4 at the Washington Convention Center.

The AACR and American Cancer Society established this Award in 1992 to honor outstanding research accomplishments in cancer epidemiology and prevention.
