The ninth Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) institute, Building a Framework for Collaboration, took place October 7-9 in Herndon, VA with 144 attendees self-organized into 34 interprofessional teams. At the conclusion of the institute, faculty-led teams emerged with actionable plans for implementing projects to advance interprofessional curricula, learning experiences, and assessment.
Teams included representatives from ASPPH-member schools of public health: University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Arizona, and the University of Puerto Rico. Public health faculty from other institutions – Idaho State University, Regis College, and the University of Hawai’i – were also in attendance.
Public health speakers at the institute included: Dr. Dora Anne Mills (University of New England), Dr. Sherril Gelmon (Portland State), and Dr. Kelley Swatzell (University of Alabama at Birmingham).
Registration will open in early November for the Spring 2016 institute, which is focused on quality improvement and patient safety. It will take place May 4 – 6, 2016 also in Herndon, VA. Stay tuned for details at https://ipecollaborative.org/.
