The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) is pleased to announce an update to their Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice, first released in 2011. A primary reason for the update is to better incorporate the Triple Aim and ACA objectives into training health and partnering professionals so they can collaborate more effectively in integrating clinical care and public health interventions for optimizing population health. View the new competencies. The update also reaffirms the original competencies and restructures the entire model under the singular domain of Interprofessional Collaboration. Read the press release.
This update is very positive for our academic public health enterprise and for the public’s health and thanks go to many of you who supported the process.
*Please circulate this announcement to your program and IT staff and encourage them to swap out the now-outdated 2011 competency set with the new 2016 model*
